5 Reasons We Use Cross-Laminated Timber (CLT) for Sustainable Construction
At our Blue Gate Antwerp and Aalst sites, we’ve chosen cross-laminated timber (CLT) for construction. Why?
1. Carbon Storage
The wood we use comes from specially cultivated trees that absorb CO2 from the air and store it. Even after harvesting, the CO2 remains locked in the wood.
2. Circular Construction
Wood is a circular construction element, meaning it can be reused multiple times, reducing waste and promoting sustainability.
3. Lower Emissions
Unlike concrete production, which emits a significant amount of CO2, using wood helps reduce our carbon footprint.
4. Minimal Ecological Footprint
Our CLT is sourced from Europe, ensuring a minimal ecological footprint and supporting local economies.
5. Reforestation
Trees are replanted to further enhance environmental responsibility, ensuring a continuous cycle of growth and sustainability.
